Years on the Bringing Back the Natives Garden Tour: New this year!
Rebecca and Jim, who have a busy family life, a large corner lot to maintain, and a strong environmental ethic, had let their lawn die during the drought. With the watering restrictions eased, in its place they wanted a beautiful, sustainable, low maintenance garden that would free them up to spend time enjoying their garden, rather than mowing it. They collaborated with Cindy Angers, of EcoFolia Design, to create a lovely, sustainable landscape that was as welcoming to people as it was to wildlife. Jim extended the outdoor living space by building a deck, and Cindy designed a seating area underneath a shade tree. A row of long flowering Bees Bliss Salvias compliments the custom color blend of decomposed granite path. California lilac, deer grass, and manzanita provide year-round garden color and texture.
● Fruit trees and a few other edibles have been incorporated into the front garden.
● The back yard, with its raised vegetable beds and flock of happy chickens, will also be open for viewing.
● Stroll 800 feet through the Altamont Creek Park to Cindy Angers’ garden, or drive the two minutes it will take to get there.
Birds, lizards, hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees are all at home in this wildlife-friendly garden.
